Otto Eckert worked with local clay at his workshop in Kralovice, which he established after 1940. He was passionately focused on mixing materials, whose properties inspired him to make new uses of colours and decorative techniques. While he was at the Kralovice workshop (less than ten years), he made some 40,000 ceramic vessels. The scratched decoration on this earthenware service was made into the painted surface before being covered with transparent glaze.
